What is it?
The President's Volunteer Service Award was previously a prestigious national award given to volunteers who perform an outstanding amount of service hours within a 12-month period.
Due to a pause in this program nationally, NVLP will use National Service Honor Award for awards.
How to Earn it:
Depending on your age, there are different hour requirements to earn the President's Volunteer Service Award. We will be using the same requirements for the National Service Honor Award. Refer to the table below:

* We do not offer the Lifetime Achievement Award
The age group you will be considered in is the age you are when you turn in your volunteer hours. If you wish to turn your hours in early in order to be considered in a younger age group, that is fine. Hours may not be turned in after the May 15th deadline.
Activities that DO NOT COUNT towards your hour requirement for the award:
1. Donating funds
2. Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
3. Religious instruction
4. Conducting worship service
5. Proselytizing
6. Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
7. Serving only family members

Begin volunteering! Log all your hours (forms below) as you go. You can volunteer through our organization or other organizations. HOWEVER- if you volunteer through other organizations make sure to get the contact information of your supervisor. Keep in mind you have exactly12 months to complete your volunteer hours. Hours earned between May 15, 2025 and May 15, 2026 will count towards the 2026 awards. You can turn in your hours before the deadline if you wish.

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST VOLUNTEER AT LEAST 10 HOURS WITH NVLP IN ORDER TO GET THE AWARD!!
How to log your hours:
Once you're done:
Follow the email template listed in the instructions.
Share the google document with your hours with nvlpcalhigh@gmail.com. Make sure to name your hour sheet "First Name Last Name National Service Honor Award Hour Sheet 2025 - 2026". Submit your National Service Honor Award hours by May 15, 2026. This will happen every year so if you miss this year, you can aim for next year!
